I was referred to Dr. Gallina and choose to allow him to perform an anterior/posterior spinal fusion based on research and reviews. Unfortunately, my experience has been less than stellar. Too much has happened for me to thoroughly explain so I will only speak on the most recent issue. On Monday, April 30th, 2018 I was seen by Dr. Gallina in his Manhattan office for a two post OP exam and was told that I would be prescribed medication for symptoms that arose post surgery. Carmen said to me that my prescription would be filled that day. At approximately 9am, on May 1st, 2018 I called Dr. Gallina's Manhattan office to notify them that I had not received the prescriptions and never received a return call or the medication. On May 2, 2018, I called his office again and spoke with Martha. I explained to Martha what my issue was and I was told that I would receive a phone call from Carmelo by the end of the day, which did not happen and the medication was still not sent to the pharmacy. I called today, Wednesday, May 3, 2018, because I needed the exact dosages of the medication that Dr. Gallina's office failed to submit. I spoke with Carmen and specifically asked her for that information. After a back and forth Carmen finally decided to provide me with the requested information but not without first stating that I was refusing to allow her to attempt to submit the prescriptions, which was untrue. At no time did I decline to have Dr, Gallina's office to send the prescriptions, I had been begging the office to do so for three days.I was sent home from the hospital, and every one of my post OP prescriptions was written by either my PCP or the hospital. And it took a lot of effort to convince the hospital's physician to write those scripts. If it were not for me contacting my PCP in a panic and dueling with the hospital, I would have been sent home post OP with no antibiotics, pain relievers or any of the other need medications.I would also like to note that from reading the post OP report it appears that Dr. Gallina may not have performed the actual surgery. The post OP report states that "Dr. Gallina was present and scrubbed for the entire operation" or "Dr, Gallina was present and scrubbed for the entire case" and states that "Dr. Amit Patel then performed a periumbilical retroperitoneal approach to the lumbar spine." I am not even sure who Dr. Amit Patel is; he might be the owner of the brown skin arm that shoved a piece of paper in my face in the OR after I had already been injected with anesthesia.Unfortunately, I am going to still have to deal Dr. Gallina because no other doctor is willing to take my case, and I have developed new symptoms post OP.
