Nina J. Karlin

Dr. Karlin at Mayo Clinic, Phoenix has been my oncologist for a year and a half (since late 2021.). She is a very knowledgeable and pleasant person. She answers all my questions when we visit. She always thinks through the question before answering. She works with a team of mid level practitioners (nurse practitioners) who oversee the scheduled chemotherapy prescribed by Dr. Karlin. It’s a great team.

I have been a patient of Dr. Karlin since 2015. She saved my life by recommending a new cancer treatment. She listens; She has taken the time to know me. Excellent doctor.

Dr. Karlin is a caring, well-trained physician. I feel very fortunate to be one of her patients.

As long as you follow that advise, you and Karlin may get along very well. Except...be ready for her to recomend tests that never get ordered, write orders that never get scheduled, refuse to treat you if you don't have a PICC line or Port installed even though she personally will not be giving you chemotherapy, fail to prescribe anti nausea drugs for the days after chemo, insist that you take meds on day of chemo to help with chemo side effects, but then refuse to stop the drug even when you have no side effects and prescribe more drugs to counter the side effects of the side effect drugs that you didn't anyway...because it's protocol. She's ex-military and expects all orders issued by her to be carried out without question!
