Richard Lotshaw

I had been to several doctors trying to find the cause of some abdominal pain I was having. This went on for more than two. Dr. Lotshaw was the first doctor to really care about what was going on with me and could see from my charts the exact cause. I dont know why this had been such a mystery to others. He diagnosed my problem, treated it, explained it to me thoroughly, and Ive had no problems since. I would recommend Dr. Lotshaw to anyone!

I feel like cattle being herded when I visit this clinic. It is an overall feeling that my intellect and knowledge in not valued. I also get the impression that there is no inclination to know my personal situation at all. I am just another number. I feel as if the quality of care is good from a medical perspective only, but not from the patients perspective. I am not told a heart rate, they dont do urinalysus regularly to check if you may have converted to diabetic or if you are spilling protein in to your urine. It is rather sad. However, you dont wait past your appointment time and the staff is pretty cool.

I suffered from hyperemesis during my pregnancy. I couldn’t eat anything and this doctor would not listen to me about changing my medication or providing alternative treatment. He mad me feel like I was making a fuss and it was no big deal I couldn’t keep any good down. When I had my baby she was so tiny and we were very fortunate she survived. This doctor wasn’t even present at my delivery. What a shame!!!

This review is more about him than any staff he has ever had. I was his patient in another state. He has no idea what he is doing and does not apologize for any mistakes he makes...no matter how horrible. He utilized vacuum extraction to deliver my baby which kept popping off and he actually fractured my babys skull. My baby is now nine years old and is just now learning to walk and has other global delays including the cognition of a two year old. My life now only revolves around her care and going to multiple therapy and doctor visits throughout each year. If only he would have apologized!!!! He didnt even visit her in the NICU and we know he visited other babies that were his patient. He didnt want to claim fault and be sued. So his game is to hop insurance companies so that when a patient does go to make a claim they arent even covered by his insurance agency because he changes so frequently. It kills me that his record does not follow him to other states and now he is at such reputable hospital as Vanderbilt and possibly doing the same thing there. I pray he learned his lesson from the terrible mistake he made with my baby and may God have mercy on his soul because he will one day be judged by him!

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR! My husband and I went in for a 12week ultrasound to see this guy. He didnt introduce himself, he said my medical history (which included a possible risk during pregnancy) was no big deal, and he told me to get changed for the exam while I was sitting in a gown already! He has no concern for patient care, details, or even presenting himself as a trustworthy professional. We switched hospitals to get away from him because they have rotating doctors and I did not want him in the delivery room. He really made a very reputable hospital look bad.

I saw Dr Lotshaw during my pregnancy. I had hyperemesis gravitating throughout my pregnacy and this doctor will barely change my medication when it wouldn’t work. Everytime I went in for an appointment he will reach me and sometimes will make me feel like my concerns were not that important. He did not even show up at my birth. Horrible. I will not recommend him to anyone.

Horrible experience; he dismissed issues as being in my head; didn’t do proper diagnostics; his treatment plans were bandaids, not real solutions to the problem; refused to ackowledge side effects of medications; wouldn’t consider alternate treatments (surgery) to meds. Did not improve my fertility because he didn’t recognize endometriosis; later sought treatment with the Center for Endometriosis Care in GA and that surgery proved him wrong on several points (and they did what he couldn’t do gave me a painfree existence without the need for dangerous medications).

Horrible experience. He doesn’t listen to his patient and doesn’t do enough diagnostics to help create real treatment plans. Dismissed too many problems as “hysteria” (it’s in your head, see a shrink). Not concerned about discussing side effects of his treatments; not willing to consider options when the meds don’t work the way he intended.

This is one of the worst OBs out there. He totally missed gestational diabetes with our second child. Our child was large and needed specialized care after birth. Dr. Lotshaw disappeared after delivery. Evidentially it was graduation weekend and he was going to discharge me without so much as checking on me once after birth. Almost three days in the hospital and he NEVER checked on me or had any other OB check on me. Knowing he had screwed up royally he handed me off to a med student at my six week follow up. If I ever had a choice between him and a random stranger with no medical degree to deliver a future child, I would pick the stranger every time. There is a reason he jumps states and insurances so much.

I saw him in another state and he caused the death of my son. My sons heart rate was 50 and instead of doing an emergency c section he ran down the road from the hospital to the dentist real quick. I had a very health pregnancy and I was past due. When he was paged to come back he did an emergency c section but it was to late my son suffocated on my placenta and had severe brain damage. The next day dr. Lots haw came in my room and said, well he isnt going to make it dont worry you can have more kids!!! I was devas5ated. My son lIve for a little over a month. If this man did something wrong to your baby Im telling sue him so he will lose his license!!!
