The Eye Institute Of West Florida's Online Review Report Card

I went to this establishment expecting top treatment from a specialist, but I was sadly disappointed by almost every aspect! First, my intake was ignored, as I had written down all of my allergies to not only medications, but food coloring as well! The drops used to dilate my sensitivity eyes were loaded with yellow dye #5! I noticed a white clouded effect in my vision for many hours past my 2:15 p.m. visit, well past 11 p.m. along with swelling and itching and redness that lasted into the following day! I looked up the drops used for dilation and found out they contain the dye. The woman who did my intake put the drops in minutes later! That was the beginning of my nightmare. The doctor questioned why I was using two eye drops for glaucoma when I don't have it. My previous eye specialist had me on them for years for a Condition in my right eye, after my retina tore, to keep the pressure down. This doctor wanted me to go off them for several weeks to see if the pressure went high, indicating glaucoma? No. I know my last doctor was treating me for something different. Then it came time to discuss eyeglasses. My insurance allow me one pair of glasses per year at ZERO CO-PAY! With anti scratch, tinted lenses and even progressives for nothing extra! The woman at the desk insisted that I was wrong, saying, "your insurance never gives you a free pair!" Well, yes they do and I got a pair last year for free, all the bells and whistles! Even a trip focal is covered, zero co-pay! So, I just called my insurance provider and requested a printable copy of my vision benefit and it's in black and white, FREE! BEWARE! They gave me a list of only eyeglass/ opticians they use and told me I had to pick one of them! My insurance company said, "you pick a good place you're comfortable with and takes our vision plan (most local places do!) and we'll cover the glasses 100%!" Yay me, yay to my insurance company! Thank God I knew better! Find another reputable eye specialist!

Just tried to check-in and was told what insurances I HAVE! Even though I told them my husband retired last year and that insurance is now gone. I was corrected and told otherwise. Glad to know the information I provided when making the appointment was helpful. What do patients know about their personal insurance?! SMH

I can't say enough good things about this place! What a great office staff! And Dr. Kirsch was amazing!!! Very warm and welcoming place! Strongly recommend them!!!!😊😊

I received a referral from American Academy of Ophthalmology’s EyeCare America Program of which Dr. Robert Weinstock is a volunteer. The receptionist Kayla decided to take offense to the fact that at this time I do not have insurance. She did not believe the program I was referencing was real and hung up on me. Dr. Weinstock, I deeply appreciate that you volunteer for an exemplary organization. You may want to be aware that your gatekeeper is refusing to let those sent to you through.

Eye Institute of West Florida (McMullen Booth location) was able to give me an urgent appointment/same day /within 2 hours when my regular optometrist called. I injured my eye same morning. Pain level was so high I was nauseous! Dr.Roberts and his assistants showed compassion and set me on a recovery plan. I appreciate administrative staff that can adjust busy appointment schedules of many doctors and allow for the unexpected appointment. I’m grateful to Eye Institute of West Florida.

My first visit was with DR. Kirsch. Best Dr. Made feels comfortable with my procedure and he has a wonderful staff very professional, highly recommend Dr. Kirsch 🙏

The most unpleasant experience I’ve ever had as a new patient going for an appointment. Mr. Roberts and his incompetent staff were very rude and unprofessional. To think this staff can call themselves “medical professionals” is so funny when this office is run like the set of Grey’s Anatomy. Do not come here.

Dr. Joshua Roe has been my doctor for almost 2 years now. Dr. Roe is an exceptional doctor with excellent knowledge and broad experience in his field. Dr. Roe helped me tremendously to overcome my vision issues. His assistants are always very professional and knowledgeable I highly recommend him as well as the Eye Institute of West Florida.

Worst experience I have ever had at a doctors office! Most of the staff were rude and the doctor was dismissive. I spent my copay for him to tell me to keep doing something that hasn’t worked for the last month. Like all the sudden miraculously it is going to have an effect. I have dealt with these people in the past at 2 different locations and had great results. But this location will NEVER see me again.
