Medical staff was great but the financial side was a nightmare. I was told at check-in, DAY OF SURGERY, I owed $1,500 for the facility. I paid it, not knowing any better (and frankly not having a choice), only to find out weeks later by looking through my insurance claims that they overcharged me by $1,000. Did they reach out to let me know and give me my money back? Nope! I’m already having to jump through hoops left and right to get my money back. If you’re looking for something annoying to track down while you recover from surgery, go here.
I just had a right shoulder replacement performed by Dr Doug Murray two days ago. Everything went fine, the nursing team was truly exceptional especially my pre-op nurse Pam. The nerve block lasted a full 24+ hours and I started the pain meds right after the block wore off. So my recovery has been mostly pain free up to this point. Honestly I was stressed out going into this procedure. I even dreamed they might accidentally amputate my arm. I'm beyond grateful that I'm on my way to recovering full use of my arm. Sending well wishes and blessings to all the staff there and especially to Doug Murray.
Terrible administration. I had a doctor at POC (no complaint about his ability) but POC dropped my insurance, and never told me until the day before my next appointment. I had been there in February. No explanation, other than I "fell through the cracks" in February. No apology. No offer to help. There are other great ortho doctors in Atlanta, I do NOT recommend POC. They are in the business of making $ not caring for patients.
Great experience start to finish. Dr. McClelland and staff are all tremendous. The surgery center staff were all very friendly and professional. My pre op nurse Katie is the best at inserting an IV. totally painless. I felt relaxed and comfortable throughout. Everything went as scheduled. Highly recommend.
Friendly strangers, I don’t like posting negative reviews but this is a matter of your health and finance. Let me be clear: the people at the reception and the fabulous woman who took care of COVID screenings at the door were both kind and lovely. I don’t really care about having a scar from the surgery, nor about the months of recovery and physical therapy (that I was not informed I would need). I care that I paid A LOT of money on the day of the surgery. I was understandably uneasy and the bills were confusing, “this much or half now and half later.” I paid everything upfront so I wouldn’t have to worry about it later. I am not afraid of needles. I don’t flinch when I get shots or blood drawn. The nurse who tried to get my IV in was knowingly apprehensive “if I can’t do it, I’ll call someone else.” Well it was horribly painful as she jabbed my hand, gave up, and brought another nurse. This nurse tried TWO MORE TIMES unsuccessfully, again jabbing and moving the needle like she’d never held one before. I was fighting tears. My veins, by the way, are very visible and easy to spot. Finally, the last try was messy and the two nurses whispered to each other, “right, when this happens, it means you went too far so you pull back and readjust.” I was looking away by now but suddenly felt a warm travel down my arm. The nurses advised me not to look until they cleaned me up. Judging by the stained blanket, I can tell you I must have been bleeding quite a bit. I was dizzy and anxious when they hurriedly left me. Never saw them again. A man entered not too long after and asked me if I was nervous, “I wasn’t before but I am now.” He said he’d give me what they called “happy juice” to help me relax. It did help me relax, I got loopy until I was rolled into surgery. Blacked out, woke up groggy and honestly just wanted to sleep, so my mom drove me home and that was that. It was over. Except it’s not. I have been getting calls for almost a year saying I still owe money. I’ve paid more bills, scattered. “Oh that was for the doctor’s office, this is for the surgery center.” Today a debt collector, “it says office of anesthesiology but the doctor requested it.” Which is it?? 80 bucks here, then another 500?! It’s sketchy and this is the last bill of theirs I pay. Thieves. Not to mention they covered incompetence by drugging me when I was worried. Surgery is so delicate, you need to take care of yourself and this is not the place to do it.
Excellent experience and I love Dr Kercher and his team!!!!
I prepaid for my surgery, and was told there would be no further charges. My surgery was straight-forward with no surprises. Now, I am continuing to receive bills from Peachtree Orthopaedics. I also have received a large anesthesia bill, which I was not informed of. Be very wary of using this facility, read all fine print, and ask more questions than you feel would normally be necessary.
Terrible surgery experience. I arrived on time as requested with surgery time at 12:15. I didn’t go in until 3:00. I had to ask for updates. I got brushed off by Dr McCelland when I explained I arrived on time and anticipated to be in surgery around 12:15-12:30. His excuse was there were two major surgeries before mine and the team had to wait for equipment to be delivered. There was no reason for me to fast after midnight if my surgery was at 3:00 in the afternoon. The surgery center scheduling clerk is clearly incompetent in doing his or her job. The less complex surgeries (like mine) should go first with the more complex following. Additionally, I think it’s poor practice to schedule surgery times two days before surgery. Times should be allocated at least a week prior. the surgery was scheduled two months prior with anticipation of requesting the first surgery time slot. I was told I could not request a time slot. I would not recommend Peachtree orthopedic to any friends or family. .

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
