After being a patient at this office for plenty of years I am Highly disappointed. I took off today to get my teeth cleaned and was turned away by the hygebtiar due to being pregnant. I have had my teeth cleaned through every single pregnancy I have and had even had wisdom teeth removed. I am livid and am considering never going back to the establishment.
Disappointed with the Experience Despite Professional Staff I came in as an emergency walk-in patient due to a severe toothache. The receptionist was very friendly and personable, and the dental technicians were professional. I presented my insurance and made it clear that I was there for a specific issue — a painful tooth that needed to be addressed immediately. Instead of taking x-rays only of the affected area, the team proceeded to do a full set of x-rays, including panoramic scans and gum density exams. While I appreciated the thoroughness, this seemed excessive for an emergency visit focused on one painful tooth. The dentist was professional and took the time to explain everything clearly. After speaking with her, I decided I just wanted the extraction done to relieve my pain. Here’s where the experience went downhill: After the dentist left, I was given an initial out-of-pocket estimate of $92, which I was ready to pay. Then another staff member (possibly the office manager) came in and said the quote was incorrect because a technician hadn’t clicked the right button — the new cost was $150. I agreed again because I was desperate to get out of pain. But when I went to pay, the total was suddenly $200, supposedly because of a $50 deductible. I asked if the deductible could be billed to me later since I had the $150 ready. I also questioned why I wasn’t told it would be $200 from the start. By that point, I had been in the office for an hour and a half (from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM), still in pain, with no treatment provided — only an extensive battery of x-rays and escalating charges. It felt like my insurance was over-utilized for procedures that didn’t address my immediate concern. I left in the same pain I arrived in, frustrated and very disappointed with how the financial side was handled.
Recently had a dental emergency and was having a lot of pain with a crown not fitting quite right and the office staff got me in less than 24 hours after I called and the dentist adjusted my crown in no time and I was feeling better in less than an hour. I can't describe how much it means to me that the staff realize how difficult it is to have to wait weeks to deal with a dental issue that's driving you crazy. Thank you so much for getting me in so fast and having me feel better so quickly. It meant the world to me, I truly appreciate the kindness you all showed me at Riccobane Associates Family Dentistry. If you need any work done, absolutely give them a call. You'll have an amazing experience from the incredibly kind ladies at the front desk to the talented dental staff.
Highly recommend them. Probably one of the best dentist offices I’ve ever been to
Wow, they are the walmart of dentistry and thats not good. The New Bern office especially. My dentist struggled with a tooth extraction. They did a bridge a over a year ago and I still have issues. A year after the bridge was done they sent me a bill and wanted an additional $135 for their billing error. When I brought it up, the girl in charge of billing was very rude and did NOT want to hear anything I had to say even though the insurance agreed with us! No one has gotten back to us 6 months later and they still insist we owe $135. I GUESS PAID IN FULL DOES NOT MEAN PAID IN FULL! This dentistry has many of the same complaints. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS. Do your owe research before using them. There are plenty of complaints about them out there!
Chad was so incredible at the North Myrtle Beach location! I left feeling so much better after my cleaning and his professionalism was amazing! The office is beautiful and everyone was so kind! I finally found a great dentist. Thank you so much Chad for making it a relaxing experience and making me comfortable. See you in December.
Absolutely FANTASTIC experience! The communication is excellent. I cracked a crown (front tooth). They worked me right in... fit me with a temporary while my new crown is being made. Cannot even tell the difference between the temp and my real tooth next to it. Absolute artistry!
After being a customer for many years, I was thoroughly disappointed when my appointment was 'cancelled due to non-confirmation'. I kept my appointment and showed up 15 minutes early in case my insurance had changed. I have to plan my schedule weeks in advance due to work obligations (small business owner). Cancelling an appointment because I didn't answer a spam robo-call is completely unprofessional - especially when they make you schedule your next appointment while you're sitting in the dentist chair. Good luck with this new policy. You've lost a patient.
I was looking forward to trying the Shallotte office as a happy patient transferring from Lane & Associates, hoping to support a more local provider. Unfortunately, they canceled my first appointment just 40 minutes before it was scheduled. Extremely unprofessional and clearly no regard for my time. You know who wouldn’t have done that? Lane & Associates. I’m actually grateful this happened before I ever stepped foot into their office or spent a dime. Over the last 5 years, I’ve invested thousands in my dental care, braces, Invisalign, whitening, you name it. It’s a real shame. First impressions matter, and this one made it clear how they operate.
Every time I go to Riccobene-Apex, I am so blessed with the staff. I have real dentist anxiety, as old as I am. However, I have been going here for 4 yrs and today the entire staff was different (Dr. Clark was still there). I felt anxious. I am used to Melissa as my hygienist (amazing). It started with the new front desk Office Manger (Jessica), warming, professional and inviting; then Joel the hygienist, patient, calming and considerate during the cleaning and Tabitha the dental assistant (a fill-in from the Durham Office), you would think she was right at home because she was my peace. If you are looking for a dentist office, I promise that you will not be disappointed!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
