Armin Afsar-Keshmiri

Dr. Keshmiri is an excellent surgeon. Very informative and professional at all times and very compassionate. I highly recommend Dr. Keshmiri to anyone I speak to about spine surgery.

Dr Asfar-Keshmiri took the time to answar all questions regarding the procedures fo rthe last 2.5 years. We attempted non invasive practices first. When the pain became unmanageble with therapies or injections , the surgery was scheduled and performed and the result is freedom of movement and no pain. his staff is well versed and well informed. there is good communication amongst all involved.

Dr. Afsar- Keshmiri completely fixed my herniated disc and cervical radiculopathy. I was back to work 3 days post- op and doing well!

Having read the one other review of Dr. Armin Afsar-Keshmiri I was a bit nervous going in to meet with him, but since my primary care doctor recommended him I thought why not.At my first appointment I explained my spine issues and how debilitating they felt, I told him the exact location of the pain to the exact region and he insisted on only taking an MRI of the upper neck, not between my shoulder blades or my lower back where both hurt to the touch. On my initial write up of the first appointment he stated "Shoulder pain", I asked this to be corrected to my spine and to reference the areas of pain but that did not occur. At checkout I informed them my insurance did not require prior authorization as I had already confirmed and wanted to resolve my pain ASAP. A week and a half later they called me to schedule the MRI, with the person on the phone saying "Sorry, I don't know why they were looking for prior authorization as your insurance does not require it". So now, 2-3 weeks later and still having pain I have the first MRI of the upper neck which had a little finding, but nothing alarming. On the appointment to go over this MRI Dr. Keshmiri acted like it was my first appointment again, asking "Why are we seeing you today", doing the same little test and literally concluding the appointment with "Everything seems fine", I then had to remind him of the MRI test. Once he went out of the exam room and came back in he then wanted me to get a second MRI of the same upper spine region with contracts, this time I pushed and insisted on the upper, middle and lower spine and with hesitation, he agreed. After the set of MRIs I went and picked up a copy of the results myself from the imaging center, reviewed them and went to the followup with Dr. Keshmiri. During the appointment he told me there was no significant findings and told me there was nothing else he could do. I asked him to still go over the findings with me. As he told me they found 3 "slightly bulging disc in the region I complained of between my shoulder blades initially and a spinal hemangioma in the lower area of my spine I complained about, I confronted him asking if it was weird that his "no findings" corresponded with the exact locations I pointed out to him on my first appointment. He then advised me that since it was a herniated disk there was nothing more that he could do and that "if I wanted" he could refer me for a nerve study. I accepted, highly irritated that the pain on my left side that makes it unbearable to lay, sit and stand that I was able to pinpoint the 3 bulging disk and spinal hemangioma was nothing of concern in his mind but had me unable to function.Yesterday I went to the nerve test, hoping and praying it had some finding as here I am 2-3 months later, unable to sit, lay or stand for any real period of time without some region of my body flaring up with extreme pain just to find the nerve study, well, it was for my shoulder, not my spine, not the pectoral area that hurts to the point I have been to the ER thinking I had a blood clot, or was having a heart attach, just my shoulder.STAY AWAY FROM DR. KESHMIRI IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A BANK OF SICK/PERSONAL TIME TO TAKE OFF FROM WORK TO RUN AROUND TO A BUNCH OF APPOINTMENTS THAT ARE SIMPLY DISTRACTION FROM HIS INABILITY TO DIAGNOSE A CONDITION. I AM NOT SEEING BONE AND JOINT AND SCHEDULED FOR A BRAIN MRI, FIRST APPOINTMENT THE DOCTOR LISTENED, WAS CARING, ATTENTIVE AND UNDERSTANDING OF MY ISSUES.REMEMBER, IF YOU ARE IN THE REGION THAT DR. ARMIN AFSAR-KESHMIRI PROVIDES SERVICE IN, YOU ARE IN THE SAME AREA THAT BONE AND JOINT AND ORTHONY COVER, GO TO THEM, THEY HAVE BETTER REVIEWS AND MORE THEN 2 UNSATISFIED REVIEWS ON GOOGLE.

I wish I could give 0 stars. Dr. Keshmiri ruined my back for life. He placed my dorsal column stimulator on the wrong vertebrae. He put the blame on me. I'm not the surgeon, he is. He did a second "corrective" surgery which only made it worse. When he saw what a mess he made on the x-ray he had his assistant call me and tell me not to come back. How compassionate of him.I had to have a 3rd surgery at Albany Med to try to fix his mistakes. The surgeon there told me he butchered me so badly it could not be fixed. It makes me sick to see him on TV commercials pretending that he cares about his patients. My life is forever changed for the worse because of this man. Please stay away from him!
