Giving one star is generous when it comes to Barbara Ashe. Interacting with her was single-handedly the most terrifying and traumatic experience I have ever endured. I went to the emergency room after being injured, and as a young college student, I was very scared to be at the doctor alone but knew that I needed help. I expressed by concerns in regards to being at the doctor and she did not acknowledge my fear or pain at all, she was condescending, dismissive, and extremely aggressive with me... I have never been more scared than when I was in the room with her. She ignored by requests for an explanation of what she was going to do to me and had me pinned down against my will and proceed to make my injury worse. I screamed no repeatedly and did my best to resist and pull away, but she proceeded to continue without my consent. She scoffed at my pain and trauma and left me bleeding, crying, and without the help that I desperately needed. It is people like her that make others scared to seek proper medical care when they need it and the emotional trauma that my experience with her gave me is something I will carry for the rest of my life. As I left the facility, barely able to walk or breathe (because of the intense pain and fear for my safety), I spoke to some other employees of the hospital and when they saw that I had been with her, they were sympathetic and apologized for her. If that does not speak to the reputation she has made for herself then I don't know what would. Her insensitivity and lack of any capacity to care for the emotional or physical wellbeing of another human being is a disgrace to the medical profession and Washington Regional Hospital.
