As a former employee of Bulverde Assisted Living it honestly breaks my heart to see such a facility start to perish due to poor management, overworked staff, and an unmanageable workload that they put on the shoulders of the staff. Especially the Med-Techs. This place was already severely disliked by the staff from when I first got hired, and since then has completely gone downhill to the point where it's getting close to kicking the bucket. But what really takes the piece of cake with this building is the Executive Director themselves. The current Executive Director is someone who should not be associated with this facility or any long-term care/nursing facility at all due to their lack of care they show for the building and most importantly that they show to the staff. They are rude, conniving, and just outright disrespectful on an unprecedented level. They also talk about certain staff members behind their back when opinions are voiced or something is not gone to the Executive Directors liking. And also use a form of hate speech behind their backs too depending on the person. After all, the Executive Director did admit openly that they suffer from a god complex! It upsets me greatly that I had to leave my job here as the family members and Residents are incredibly nice and understanding. But because of recent events that took place at this facility, it was just something that I could not return to unfortunately. And of those event(s) one sticks out the most, which is getting written up along with my fellow colleagues because of professional reports that were made against one of the Executive Directors children working at the facility. Which brings me to my next point that the Executive Director uses all their power to allow their children to work in the building despite numerous incidents when they haven't performed their duties correctly nor professionally and are highly immature with specific residents whether it's friend or foe. Yet, they are still allowed to work in the building without being reprimanded, it's more or so just a slap on the wrist as if it was for someone unrelated they would have suffered severe consequences and possible termination. All in all, there are a lot of places wrong with this facility but these were just the highlighted bits of my journey here at Bulverde Assisted Living. On the side there are rude staff overall, and a housekeeper who has no sense of courtesy or respect. And the building is constantly in a run down state that the price they set for rooms/rent is not justifiable. The owners seriously need to step in and get this place back in order as they seem to be neglecting it immensely. I only applaud the Wellness Director here in terms of management as they are always stepping up to the plate, working on the floor, and going the extra mile to make sure that the staff are somewhat happy and that the residents/families are happy. One person cannot do it all though, and it's unfair that most responsibilities fall onto their lap and not the laps of others.
