Clive Segil

Dr Segil was the only doctor who explained in length any and all options for my congenital hip dysplasia issues. I had 12 surgeries between the ages of 3 & 6 yrs old (1963-1966) just so I could walk & that I would need total hip replacements later on in life. At 40 yrs old I was starting to have more pain in my lower back due to less movement in my hips. I saw a couple ortho surgeons whom I could tell were not interesting in helping me because they couldn't see it turning out well for them - meaning that their efforts and surgery options had a low success rate. I reluctantly went to see Dr Segil because I assumed he'd have the same prognosis. Au contraire, the previous doctors I'd seen wouldn't even let me ask questions; Dr Segil answered every little question I had & walked me thru every step prior to my surgeries. I'm extremely happy with the 2 hip replacements I've had going on 20 years now. While his bedside manner may be rough he's an excellent & extremely knowledgeable doctor.

Our first experience with Dr. Segil was twenty years ago when he operated on my mother-in-law's spine at age 90.  She was in excruciating pain and no other doctor would touch her because of her age.  He did operate on her and gave her the gift of almost 8 years of pain-free life until she passed away.  He has been our orthopedic surgeon for ANY purpose eversince then.  Our granddaughter has been to him, my husband and I both believe he has hands of "gold" and the medical judgment of King Solomon.  He delayed my need for kneereplacement for over three years by suggesting I go to a good trainer and building up the muscle in my thigh.  When I did finally have the surgery, he brought in a young colleague to do a joint revision of my knee, most successfully. In sum, to find a surgeon whose first impulse is not surgery, and when surgery becomes inevitable, to do a superlative job is priceless.  I highly recommend Dr. Segil to anyone whois seeking not only a skilled surgeon, but an ethical and compassionate and COMMON SENSEhuman being.  His office staff is also unusual in their willingness to accommodate the busy schedule of his patients, and are also warm, friendly, and efficient.  If six or seven stars wereavailable, I would gladly check those!!  By the way, I am a busy professional and feel fortunate to have him as my "go to" doctor.  Roz Zukerman

Dr Segil is an outstanding doctor. He doesn't rush you out and brush off your problem. He gets to the root of the situation and is very thoughtful about procedures and medications. I trust him completely and recommend him to everyone.

Never made it to see him. Spoke with his assistant, Sheila who was not very helpful at all. She had no idea what she was doing, even seemed to be making fun of my Midwestern accent. If this person answers the phone, good luck.

I had a terrible experience with this doctor, and do not recommend that anyone see him. I had almost the exact same experience as Chris W. He kept saying nothing was wrong with me, despite the fact that I've been in pain for six months, and was thus referred to a specialist. When I expressed during my follow up visit that my pain had increased, he continued to say that nothing was wrong with me (despite other doctors, PT, and rolfer all confirming the issues I was having.)  When I told him that others said my pain was a legitimate issue, and that I didn't like the way he was speaking to me, he changed his tune. He said my pain was subjective, and made snide remarks about me needing "counseling" for my pain. He belittled me about my expertise in the medical field when I asked him to explain what was happening in my body, and was just horribly inappropriate. I was so amazed that anyone in a helping field could be so insensitive to his patients.

i was in an accident. this physician is hired by, and essentially works for, the insurer whos is trying to deny benefits. he's an IME physicians as "hired gun" doctors. He isvery unpleasant, in that he lies in the report and does not care about the well being of the patient He generate a predictably incomplete and unreliable medical report, one which lacks any supporting medical records, which will provide a so-called justifiable basis for the PIP insurer to terminate continuing medical benefits on your behalf.
