It’s been almost three months that I had the surgery done with Dr. Darido!Thankful to God that he directed me to chose his practice after so many research done!I live in Canada. For six months I was suffering from terrible reflux that medication wasn’t helping. I did so many tests and no one had answers except changing my pills. Desperate and without answers I contacted Dr Darido which was so helpful from the beginning. I send him all my tests results and he said that I was a candidate for Niessen Fundaplacation.This disease causes so much anxiety and makes your heartburn worse.I had my surgery end of October! Dr Darido found the hernia and repaired it. The hernia was never discovered in Canada!After surgery I was having mild pain on the incision site only for three four days! The hospital staff and service was great. After 4 days I didn’t need anymore pain killers! For 6 weeks I needed to follow liquid and soft diet! As weeks passed I was feeling better and better. He changed my life with the surgery!Whoever is having acid reflux and hernia problems and needs to find a doctor, don’t suffer any longer. Dr Darido is the person you should go too! This review is long overdue. My Mom had surgery in February 2021 with Dr. Darido (Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication). His hard work and expertise has completely changed my Mom’s life. We were at a point where we were hopeless - she had horrible symptoms EVERY DAY from her severe GERD. Many doctors were not helpful - they kept changing medications thinking it would help FOR YEARS. We kept going back with issues and she was getting worse. My sister did some research and found Dr. Darido and his team. I wish we found him sooner. We traveled from Las Vegas, NV - he did testing on a Tuesday and did surgery on a Thursday. I cannot thank Dr. Darido and his team enough, THANK YOU SO MUCH! You gave me my Mom back. We appreciate everything you guys did and we plan on coming back for future follow ups if necessary. THANK YOU.

I am forever grateful for Dr. Darido! I had been told there was nothing that could be done for my gastroparesis. I traveled to Houston from Alabama. After all the necessary test Dr. Darido told me he could help me. I had a partial gastrectomy and 10 weeks later i feel like a new person! All my post op test are normal! This surgery changed my life! Thank you so much!

I first came to Dr. Darido’s office in late 2019 after having had acid reflux for 18 years and about 3 years since my PPI started to not work as well. We spoke about my reflux, my increased dosage and how I was now also taking prescription Pepcid to help control it. Dr. Darido explained the process and what tests and procedures were needed to get the best results. My wife and I are both PhD level scientists, so we had a lot of questions. Dr. Darido was able to handle all of them well and convince us that the surgery would be the best course going forward.The pandemic hit not long after I had the first tests - endoscopy and manometry. I don’t have family nearby and needed help with my kids during recovery, but travel wasn’t really possible. I had to postpone the surgery. The office and I kept contact every so often until the vaccine became available. I got my upper GI in December 2020 and they worked with me on scheduling until after my family was all vaccinated and felt safe enough to travel to my house from out of state. By April 2021 I was back on the schedule and had the surgery. Dr. Darido even honored his old price quote despite me being the one that needed to postpone for a year.The hospital experience was great and everyone made sure I was well taken care of during my overnight stay. Dr. Darido took plenty of time with me to go over surgical pictures and talk about the diet along with a hospital nutritionist. He had a lot of pictures and was very pleased with how the surgery went.I wanted to wait until I was a bit into recovery to post a review, but as of now I’ve been 100% heartburn free for over 4 weeks. I’ve even eaten tomato sauce with no problems. Eating takes some getting used to as food can get “stuck” if you’re going too fast or not careful and cause pain until you’re body lets it pass into your stomach, but the recommendations given in Dr. Darido’s literature really help a lot to avoid this problem as long as you’re diligent. It has been happening less often and getting easier to eat each day even if I’m not as careful sometimes.One other thing I will point out is that my kids brought home norovirus from daycare about a week after my surgery (my luck and it was prevalent enough in the area to make the local news). Despite my best efforts I got it about 10 days out. I preemptively took Zofran, but my body did attempt to vomit a few times in one sitting. It could not and everything held up just fine. What’s strange is that I still felt better afterward like if I had actually vomited. It didn’t happen again and I got over the illness in a couple days.Overall I’m very happy with the results of the Nissen surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Darido and his office for your heartburn and reflux solution.

Dr. Darido is the best. I had been having heartburn issues for years. I started having problems that heartburn meds were no longer handling. I had every test possible done and it was determined that I had Barrett's esophagu and Hiatal Hernia. Since meds were no longer sufficing I had to do something. I am in Orlando, Fl. My GI doctor sent me to the surgeon who does the fundoplication surgery. I was given several options.. I felt the Nissen Fundoplication with Hiatal hernia repair was the best option, however the Orlando surgeon and I just didn't have a good match personality wise. I searched high and low online for best fundoplication surgeons and Houston Heartburn center came up often. I of course was hoping to have this done in Florida, but in all honesty just didn't find good reviews. Houston Heartburn Center has one great review after another. I decided to call Dr. Darido's office and schedule a consultation via phone. I am so glad I did. Dr. Darido is very good at making you feel comfortable. He answered all my questions and just took his time with me. I decided to pull the trigger and my husband and I flew to Houston. I had surgery March 4th. I stayed one day in hospital and stayed in Houston for 4 days after that. Dr. Darido gives you his personal number when you leave in case you have issues. I saw Dr. Darido before I left. Everything went well and I went home. Recovery for me was not fun and swallowing was painful but Dr. Darido encouraged me to be patient that it would all come back and be fine in 6 weeks. He was right. I was eating a regular diet 6/7 weeks after surgery and haven't looked back. His website says it all. He only does one thing and they do it right. I am glad for my decision to go to Houston even though staying in Florida would have been a whole lot easier. It was the best decision, period.

Dr. Darido and his staff are amazing. I am a totally different person after surgery. I CAN SLEEP!! Actually lying flat. I havent been able to do that for a very long, long time. I am so thankful I found Dr. Darido. His staff was do helpful as well. Dr. Darifo explained everything to me and gave me pictures of the procedure throughout the process.

This place changed my whole outlook on life and gave me hope. For years I have suffered with a hiatal hernia that was largely ignored by other doctors. Dr. Darido listens to his patients, so when I told him my acid reflux/hernia concerns & about the subsequent health issues I was experiencing as a result, he immediately offered to help me. His caring and professional attitude is second to none, and his staff are amazing. He has restored my hope that I will be able to enjoy the rest of my life without heartburn & reflux issues, and has helped me forge a new path to health & wellness. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Darido! He’s the best!

Dr. Darido has been an incredible blessing for me. I am 22 years old and have had heartburn, acid reflux, and regurgitation mildly for as long as I can remember, but in the last year and a half began experiencing, what I would describe as, severe reflux and regurgitation as well as difficulty breathing, and a feeling of great pressure on my chest and abdomen. I went to a surgeon in my area that performed an endoscopy and confirmed I had a pretty large hiatal hernia. He recommended surgery and offered me two options. One was the option of LINX, a new, experimental acid reflux treatment that has literally only been used for 7 years, meaning there is little data on its long term use, side effects, or effectiveness. The second was the tried and true method, Nissen Fundoplication, which, when, as Dr. Darido will tell you, performed by an experienced surgeon, is very successful. The problem was that I was given the impression that this surgeon was not very experienced and he didn’t seem very confident in the outcome of this procedure and listed a long list of potential side effects that were, what he considered, necessary trade offs. The surgeon informed me that I would be trading symptoms for other symptoms. I wasn’t comfortable with that and kept researching, and felt quite hopeless in the process.After some time I came upon reviews for Dr. Darido and quickly came to realize that many of the side effects and horror stories I had read from others that had undergone Nissen Fundoplication were not actually side effects of the procedure itself, but of an inexperienced surgeon performing the procedure.It was a relief to discover that Dr. Darido is in no way inexperienced and is very much at the top of his field in treating heartburn and the hiatal hernia. After my first phone consultation with him, I was sold. He knew what he was doing, was confident, and was incredibly reassuring.Just a week ago I travelled from my home in the Austin, TX area to Houston and had the procedure with Dr. Darido, and let me tell you, it was the right decision. No more heartburn, acid reflux, regurgitation, pressure in my chest, or difficulty breathing. On top of that, I had none of the nasty side effects like difficulty swallowing or painful bloating that so many people have experienced after having the procedure with inexperienced surgeons.I’m able to drink coffee now. As my esophagus heals from the surgery, I will be able to return to a normal diet within weeks. I’m already back at work a week later, and I feel so much better, despite some minor discomfort in my shoulders that should subside soon that is simply from the Co2 that they use in order to get a good view of the space in your abdomen they are working in.I say all of this to hopefully help those of you in the scary and seemingly hopeless place I was in only months ago. Go with Dr. Darido. I highly encourage you to not settle for someone that isn’t experienced with this procedure simply because they’re right down the road or cheaper. This surgery is a big deal, and if done right, can give you your life back. Dr. Darido does it right. I can’t recommend him enough. Bring your anxious journey with heartburn to an end and give Dr. Darido’s office a call. He will not disappoint.Thank you, Dr. Darido. You really have given me my life back, and for that, I can’t thank you enough. God bless you and your team.UPDATE: 3 months later and I am able to eat and drink whatever I want. I’ve had no heartburn and no complications from the surgery. I yawn a lot because I think my diaphragm is still getting used to the mesh, but that’s literally the only thing I can think of that I’m still experiencing (and I was experiencing the yawning and labored breathing way worse when my stomach was in my chest, so, this is nothing compared to that). If you need this operation, I can’t encourage you to have it done by Dr. Darido enough. It has relieved me of so much suffering.

Had a rare condition that Dr. Darido was able to resolve with Heller myotomy and Nissen fundoplication.staff was awesome and always helpful. Highly recommend.
