Great doctor and Excellent care and very nice staff

“Dr.” Quyyumi is a terrible oncologist. Last year, I was newly diagnosed with breast cancer at age 30. I was terrified. I was only able to get in and see Dr. Quyyumi, when I’d already waited long enough for my insurance to approve a doctor for me. And I got stuck with this one at first. She never made eye contact with me, and never attempted to explain anything about my type of cancer. She only said that mine being Grade 3 (which is notoriously the most aggressive and quickest spreading type) was actually NOT aggressive, and that I “had time”. I told her I was concerned about it spreading since it felt like it was growing quickly, and she said, and I quote (with an added heavy sigh), “if it spreads, it spreads.” Oh boy. Unfortunately, she took 3 weeks to send an authorization for surgery, and by the time I had surgery, my tumor had grown 1cm, and was in my lymph nodes. And when she called for a follow up, she had no idea that I’d even ever had surgery. By that time, I’d switched to another doctor, who’s been wonderful. Do not give this “doctor” any of your time.

I have met with Dr. Quyyumi three times and each session was horrible. She seemed to put so much care into her looks, but no effort into her patients medical care. She stared at her computer all the time, barely spoke, was unfriendly, didn't give any advice or accurately answer questions. She’s careless and irresponsible. A horrible doctor. After the third time I decided to find another oncologist. Go to someone else who will actually care about your health.

I have met with Dr. Quyyumi twice. Both times she stared at her laptop screen about 90% of the time. She never once mentioned my specific type of cancer and made no effort to treat me like a person, rather than just another medical chart. I would not trust her or the Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation to give me as much as a bandaid, much less more extensive medical treatment. I have grieved my medical insurer over the poor “care” I received from Dr. Quyyumi and the “Institute.” Beware!
