He saved my life by prescribing an experimental protocol being used at M.D. Anderson Cancer center in Houston, when my local physicians had advised me to settle up my affairs and prepare for death. I was a stage 4 Malignant Melanoma patient. I continue to see him yearly for follow up.

Dr. Colon is caring, gentle, attentive and always willing to take the time to discuss any aspect of your care. I always said when I got him I got the 'A' Team. He did everything to make my treatments comfortable, to reassure me, and to explain very complex tests and results.

Dr. Colon-Otero didn't give me an immediate recommendation for my follow up therapy. While I was in consultation he took all possible factors, questioning me and reading what other dr. had done/said - then while I was there he went online and looked at current papers and trials being done with results. He then looked at a decision tree. This dr. doesn't just say what he learned in med school years ago. He takes the TIME to give you as much up to date analysis before he gives advice!!

He gave me hope and a level of care and understanding that helped me survive. He knew about a chemo protocol that was working in Japan and got me on it. I will always be forever thankful to him. He is a doctor who cares about his patients. I am 3 years cancer free.

He's always surprised to see me - like he expects me to die before the next visit.
