While no one wants to be in a place like this some of us have to. I just got out after a 12 day stay and give Gracie top marks, not because it was a wonderful place but because the staff worked very hard to be sure I got what I needed to get better. Whether it was nursing, the social workers, or the art therapist I felt they were all plugging for me. I've read the negatve reviews and can understand to some degree where they come from. A lot of people, including me, were there involuntarily, which can affect your view of the place and people. But I can tell you I never saw a staff member treat someone badly. It's just a great group of people. Totally dedicated to what they are doing. I mean who else wants to stand in a communal bathroom watching a group of men try to shave themselves with an electric trimmer while other guys are using the toilets. Not many! The facility is newish and the food is decent. The mattresses are an issue. The program had less one on one therapy sessions than I expected but their group classes were quite effective. The counselors are skilled and I was impressed with their ability to bring a group of patients with very different backgrounds and diagnosis together in a 45 minute timespan. I always walked away with something I could use.
