Amazing doctor and all around human being. He saved my life and my marriage. I travel 40 minutes to see him and will continue to do so for the amazing care that he gives. As a person with medication resistant major depressive disorder it is an exhausting process that takes time. If you want a knowledgeable doctor who actually cares look no further.

Dr Gefter is an excellent psychiatrist but the main office staff leaves a lot to be desired. She decides who the doctor sees . I came down with spinal m and was in the hospital for almost a month. As I was healing in the hospital one of the nurses contacted dr Gefter's office to have a script of mine sent to the hopital because I was suffering from severe depression from the meningitis. The woman who answers the phone would not ask Dr Gefter. The hospital had to have the doctor contact his office to get my previous script sent over. The day before leaving the hospital the nurse and I tried to schedule an appointment to see Dr Gefter and she told us I missed too many appointments and could no long see him. The hospital explained that any appointments that were scheduled I was in the hospital fighting for my life. She did not care and said they would no longer see me. This woman is a detriment to doctor Gefter and should me stopped. The nurses at the hospital wanted me to repot them to the medical association but I wouldn't do that to Dr. Gefter. He helped me a great deal. If you need a good psychiatrist and don't get physically ill, or can bypass this ignorant woman, this is a good doctor to see. He will calm you and you will relax immediately. I wish he would get rid of her.

My visit with Dr. Gefter was a positive and excellent one. If you are reading this and have been struggling and struggling with depression then consider scheduling a visit with Dr. Gefter. I will say that it does take a while to get an appointment but it was worth the wait.Upon meeting Dr. Gefter you feel a great sense of care and understanding from him. Why? As you tell him what's going on with you, you can tell that he really listens and takes in everything you say to find a solution. He was able to diagnose me and give me some really helpful advice on how I should think about things and his bed side manner is awesome. He is really funny, kind and intelligent man and I was glad I scheduled an appointment with him.
