She probably doesn't remember us, but Dr. Sami was the first medical professional our family encountered when our son was taken to CHKD in Norfolk, VA for failure to thrive. We were young parents, and had no idea what was wrong with Jay (Jody P.). Another hospital had accuse us of starving him-but it turned out he had cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease. Dr. Sami was so kind to us-something we desperately needed after having such a horrific experience at another hospital. She explained everything to us about a disease we knew nothing about. She took her time and really made us a valued part of our son's health team. Jay passed in 1995, but all through the years, I've never forgotten her generosity of spirit and her kindness. We are huge fans of Doctor Sami. She is thorough, kind, gentle, takes time to listen, and genuinely cares.

We cannot say enough about Dr. Sami. Patient, kind, thorough, crazy smart... After seeing dozens of doctors, we finally lucked out in meeting Dr. Sami. She was able to get to the root of our daughter’s issues and come up with a treatment plan that has allowed our kid to live her fullest life.
