Detail-oriented, competent physician who really knows his stuff. I went to him for a second opinion because another physician (in my opinion) had completely missed the mark on my diagnosis. He listened to me, and agreed with my opinion and we were able to fix my issue in a few visits. On another visit, a nurse handed him the wrong record and he thought I was another patient, but to his credit he apologized and made sure his staff knew it was unacceptable (but did it in a gentle, yet effective way). Dr Miyano repaired a complex fracture of my arm. He was kind, gentle, and had the kind of calm. that makes you feel safe. Almost no pain, and good initial motion after surgery. His staff was also very helpful and professional.

Dr. Miyano put my hand back together after I shattered it in a snowboarding accident about 20 years ago. I had a minor complication with the old injury that was repaired by a different surgeon. The surgeon mentioned that whoever the surgeon was that had repaired my wrist 20 years ago did an amazing job. If it wasn't for Dr. Miyano’s skills, he wouldn’t have had much to work with. Dr. Miyano and his staff did an excellent job!

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. John Miyano! I had Ligament Reconstruction and Tendon Interposition (LRTI) on my left thumb. Prior to surgery, the pain was intense and interfering with activities of daily living such as opening jars, computer work, zipping my vest or putting backs on earrings. The surgery was uneventful and my recovery smooth. I had the surgery on a Th and was back to work on Mon. I had a bit of cramping in my forearm after the surgery (very normal), but otherwise was pain free. Post-op, the hand therapists gave me exercises to do at home so I didn't have to travel often to Seattle. It is essential that patients follow the hand therapists directions for a speedy recovery. I am now six months post-op and my pinching strength is stronger than it has been in years. I have no pain. Dr. Miyano and staff are extraordinarily efficient and trustworthy. I highly recommend this surgery, Dr. Miyano and The Seattle Hand Clinic.

Christina is a gem. She goes above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable, and then helps schedule appointments with their office and outside as needed.Dr. Miyano is really patient and respectful, and is great at explaining what possible things are affecting you. He prescribes tests as necessary, and allows for plenty of time for questions.

Dr. Miyano performed carpenal tunnel surgery years ago on my left hand. Absolutely no complaints. Took my daughter there for surgery on her thumb with great results (she is a ceramic artist). Just went back to him and had my other hand done a week ago. Again, so glad I had it done. Even though it was the second time he went through and explained everything. I have been to see Dr Milano twice, about six months apart. I have arthritis in my wrist and although cortisone shots have helped some, I know I’m putting off the inevitable surgery. Dr Milano is the only doctor I would consider having do the surgery. He is caring, listens to what I have to say, and has not rushed my surgery even though I know it’s probably my only route to take. I have complete faith in him. His staff is also wonderful...professional, considerate and my waiting time once in the office has been minimal. Dr Miyano fixed a joint replacement that another surgeon had botched. Amazing result. My hand looked deformed before and was very weak and painful. Now, you can't tell. It looks totally natural, plus it works like new! and doesn't hurt! Also, his PA Christina and the office, OT and surgical staff are top notch.

I came to Dr Miyano after an experience with another surgeon that pretty much met the definition of botched. The incision was infected. My hand was left distorted into a claw shape. A joint was damaged so that two bones were interfering. After a year of healing, it still hurt all the time and was very painful to use for the simplest tasks. I had exhausted therapy. I saw other surgeons, but their solutions didn't make sense and none addressed the bone contact pain. I was giving up when friends suggested Dr Miyano. He had operated on their new born baby years ago. They still remember him fondly and appreciate his results every day in their thriving, now teenage daughter. The contrast to clinic visits with other surgeons and to my earlier surgery could not have been more stark. Dr Miyano really knows his way around a hand, even one where things are no longer in the right place. He came up with a plan and some contingencies. He was able to clearly explain the mostly likely outcomes. In the actual surgery, he was meticulous. I was awake for the surgery (my choice) and you could feel the respect and care in the room. Very different from my earlier surgery. I am now six weeks post-op. Primary healing done. My hand is a human shape again! The pain is gone! I'm now seeing his very competent therapy staff and have started rehab. They have some excellent healing techniques the other surgery practice did not. Icing on the cake - the scars from my earlier surgery were quite messy, looked a bit like something had chewed on me. Somehow, after more surgery, they came out looking better, even this soon afterwards.
