John Porterfield

I am new to the Birmingham area and recently had to have a procedure by Dr. Porterfield. During my time with him in his clinic, both he and his residents were attentive, thorough, and tremendously knowledgeable. Shortly after my office visit, I had a surgical procedure, and again, he and his team were exceptional. I experienced absolutely no pain or even typical discomfort afterwards, and never needed even an Advil in the days following my procedure. I would give Dr. Porterfield the highest possible recommendation for his knowledge, expertise, bedside manner, and follow-up.

Dr Porterfield is an excellent surgeon. Very thorough in explaining procedure and outcome posibilities/expectations. Bedside manner excellent. In my experience, laparoscopic surgery performed to repair inguinal and umbilical hernias. I recommend Dr Porterfield as a highly professional surgeon.

Dr. Porterfield performed my surgery and did an amazing job. Iam a nurse and Iam very picky and he gets 4 stars from me. From bedside manner to surgery expertise, to having almost no scar after my procedure, he gets a A+. I highly recommend him and would send my own mother to him. Even had a speedy discharge the next day. Honestly, best hospital experience I've ever had...

This doctor gave me the impression that if you're obese you are not worth fixing.

my apt was at 1:30, I arrived 15 mins early. was not called back to a room until 2:40, where a student came to see me first (I suppose) and then ended up leaving because Dr. Porterfield had still not come in at 3:00pm
