I was a patient of Dr. Whitcomb's in 1990. After what started as a routine breast lump removal, she had to break the news that I had cancer. Within days, she arranged for my mastectomy, and chemo follow-up. No easy task as I was moving (3 weeks after surgery), and would need weekly chemo and surgical follow-up starting in Anchorage, then Cleveland, then Boston. Her compassion, skill as a surgeon, and willingness to go above and beyond got me through a very difficult dark period. Plain and simple-she saved my life! Good news is I'm still cancer free 31 years later!
