I am a Physician Assistant by profession, so I understand the challenges of patient care better than the average patient. I know that I received superior care by Dr Weakland and the staff of Emory Midtown. Dr Weakland anticipated every potential side effect or complication in each phase of my treatment and prevented it, when possible, or minimized it with therapy. I understand how many variables there are in patient care. I also know that during a month of hospitalization for AML there are hundreds of opportunities for mistakes to be made. There were NO mistakes, no unanticipated problems or complications. Every day my concerns were addressed, my comfort assured. The nurses were wonderful, but I suspect their consciousness is not only a personal standard, but one that Dr Weakland demands on behalf of her patients. Dr Weakland was caring, concerned, empathetic, and emotionally available. Her white coat protects her skin, but doesn't shield her heart. She is not afraid to know her patients. I will forever be in her debt for my excellent care and my very survival.
