I had an extremely rare and dangerous condition and Dr. Ahmed quite possibly saved my life. I aspirated an iron tablet six weeks prior to my presentment to the ER. The aspiration triggered an acute asthma attack and I thought my six weeks of coughing was related to the asthma. After my oxygen saturation levels dipped to hypoxia levels, I finally sheepishly went to the ER. The X-ray confirmed pneumonia, but what I’m extremely grateful for was the fact that I’d mentioned the aspiration, which lead Dr. Ahmed to order to CT scan. The CT scan confirmed that something was critically wrong in my right lung. Dr. Ahmed performed a bronchoscope (camera down the lung) and it confirmed that the iron tablet destroyed part of my lung and blocked off the oxygen supply to the lung tissue in my lower lobe. My lung was critically infected and inflamed, and without the removal of the necrotic tissue, sepsis would have assuredly set in. I love Dr. Ahmed and feel so grateful to be under his care.
