I am a patient of Dr. Mohamad Shanshal. it is my understanding that he is new to this geographical area and I am writing this review for two reasons. The first is because I would love to see Dr. Shanshal remain in this area. He is a true asset and friend to the medical field and this community/city. The second is because I want others who are diagnosed with cancer, to know that there is a kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, hard working, attentive, responsible, fight your cancer with you, kind of Oncologist in Middlesboro, Kentucky.I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (Bone Marrow Cancer) and referred to Dr. Shanshal by my family physician. Dr. Shanshal is not the type of doctor who runs into your room and already has one foot back out the door before he has answered all of your questions. He doesn't make you feel rushed or like you only have a few seconds for your visit with him. He listens to everything you have to say and considers the facts and your feelings. He treats the patient as a whole. He sees the whole person. Being told you have cancer is scary and you face many decisions and obstacles through your battle but having a doctor that you can trust and know truly cares about you as a patient and a fellow human being, means the world to me and gives me the confidence to stand up to Cancer. I know that HE wants me to win this battle because he works so diligently for ME! i know that some individuals may have reservations about a doctor who may not have a typical american name so I just want to say that Dr. Shanshal is very easy to communicate with. In fact, it is a pleasure communicating with him. I know that Dr. Shanshal has my back and is looking out for my future. I cannot imagine any Oncologist being any better and feel that God has blessed me to find a physician as all around wonderful as DR. MOHAMAD SHANSHAL.Additionally, the entire staff at his office, which is in the Cumberland Valley Medical & Surgical Associates facility, is also top notch.
