This review is regarding care received in the ER, I can’t speak to the facility beyond this. While I can’t say I’ve ever been happy to be in an emergency room, I was definitely happy we were near Jacksonville Mayo Clinic when I needed one! An unexpected medical emergency during our travels meant, rather than waiting until we were home, I needed care right away and the care I received was fantastic. Despite its size the facility is easy to navigate, inside and out, and once inside they have such a streamlined process that I was through reception, admissions, triage, and in a room faster than I’ve ever even had my information taken at hospitals back home. Once in the room there’s a screen displaying any labs/tests ordered, where in the process those are, who is seeing you, and basically any important information you could need. It removed any of the “I wonder” guesswork which is invaluable when you’re already feeling anxious and unwell. Even the bathroom for providing a sample was set up with extra toiletries and comfort in mind. Everyone was so friendly, not only to my husband and I but each other as well. They worked great as a team which I’m sure is part of why things run so smoothly. A few people who had already finished their part of my care would stop by when they passed my door to ask how it was going or offer me blankets, it was really just above and beyond. My doctor explained everything very clearly and eased my concerns without invalidating them. They gave me instructions for what was next and once home I set up my patient portal. Even that had me impressed with how clear and concise it all was. The whole experience was outstandingly positive and left me with the realization that hospitals where I live desperately need improving and updating. While I hope to never end up there again, it was hands down the best experience in any medical facility I have ever had and I cannot recommend them enough!
