My wife is having surgery on 2/9/2021. She was directed to go to the hospital between 8-12 on 2/6/2021 for a COVID test. It is an hour from our home and is a burden. The physician said a local test would not be sufficient, she needed to go to the hospital. On arrival at the sight, it was empty. A security person happened by who said site was moved and kindly directed us. 20 minutes wasted. On arriving at correct site my wife went into office and directed to wait. Other patients arrived with children and the waiting area became crowded with a inability to social distance. My wife spoke up and was told she could wait in her car. After 30minutes no tests had been performed. After 45 minutes an employee of came to theCarFor the swab.It is unconscionable that our time was wasted and my wife was put at high risk in a room full of strangers.

I had a scary call with a possible vascular malformation, and was issued an angioma to clear it. The staff was wonderful to me and my boyfriend and we felt like we were both in safe, assured hands.

I cannot say enough good things about the out patient surgical pavilion.I had a colonoscopy there yesterday. They are overall the nicest ,most caring people I have ever met. I used to work at a different hospital and I was never treated as nice as this. They are outstanding and make you feel like you are truly a special person and not just another patient. Our family entered New Hanover Hospital with a grave issue with our loved one. In the stress of a stroke our doctors and our nursing team(s) worked quickly, efficiently and skilled. Dr McKinney and Neta Greenlief and her skilled nursing team managed hard expectations well leaning forward at ever turn to support the patient with the best care well patiently and caringly supporting us as a family on the roller coaster of turns. Even our custodian warmly wished us well as they caring assured the cleanliness and sanitation of the room.

Shout out to Marina I think she’s a NCA on the ED department she did an awesome job taking care of my fam. while being there!!

My Mother broke a hip and was on the forth floor. Both my brother and I both work and have been doing our best to keep up with Mamas medical. 2/22/2019 she was due to be moved into a rehab facility. We both were trying to get off in time to go along with her. I started calling at 9:00 am JUST trying to get someone to give one of us a call when they decided to move her so we could get off and meet her there. After 4 disconnects, 2 times we reached the floor to be transferred to an answering machine which I left messages both times. My brother called and still no info. I called and reached the nurses station on the 4th floor and was told I talked to your brother just a bit ago. Dont yaw talk to each other? Well...we work. NOT in the same place. Seeing as when its all said and done her bill will be staggering I dont think it would be such a hardship for somebody to just speak to us and tell us they would call one of us when she was ready for transport. Karen the nurse was very nice but the lady that picked up the phone before Karen (2/22/2019 12:21pm) was hateful. Its not her Mother so doubt it matters and shes on the job being paid so doubt she cares if we dont get paid and sit all day waiting. Funny, cant get info when you call but they are willing and ready to call and expect you to be available if you owe a bill. Heres idea...take all them bill folks and put them into the hospital to give info and it would be a place worth going to.

Horrible and rude

The Physicians and staff seem to be very good and knowledgeable. The administration is unbelievable. Three time I had refills of my blood pressure meds denied. They made no attempt to read my record and see my Dr had increased my dose. They also made no attempt to talk to her or me. I discovered this the first time on a Friday afternoon when I went to pick it up. After that I just assumed they would mess it up and I was right. I finally changed my provider because neither of us were able to tell the pharmacy they needed to talk to people.Don't try to make an appointment with any of the specialties. They seem to have no regard for the fact that you have a problem and would be a lot less anxious once you made an appointment. You are to call and leave a message. Anywhere from two days to over a week they will call you back at their convenience. They really don't care about you.I now make an effort to avoid doing business with them. It is not worth the anxiety it causes in me. I need surgery and will be heading out of town, I don't want to know how messed up their priorities are at the hospital
