2 stars removed for the following reasons.... the food is awful, wellstar kennestone has decent food as far as I remember. I understand I'm in the hospital, I know they can't season, I know they can't give hearty portions, and blah blah blah. But at least break down how you order and how much food you can get. Because I didn't understand the concept many days I was jipped out of a side and left very hungry. The pizza is delicious, the bacon is good, the desserts are good and this is coming from someone who doesn't really eat sweets. The people who deliver the food are friendly and professional. The people who take the food orders over the phone it's hit or miss. I've talked to some customer service oriented food order takers and some with the tone of hurry the hell up and get off the line lol your food comes within the hour the order was placed. I wanted to order additional food for guests who were visiting me but the food order taker was snide and said if I didn't have exact change she couldn't take my order or I could come downstairs and pay. Lady what?!! If anyone goes down stairs it will be to leave and get food THEY KNOW FOR A FACT WILL BE GOOD! And people wonder why others opt for outside food! The nurses I had during my stay had great personalities and are working in the field meant for them. The bedside manner was wonderful and I greatly appreciated all their genuine concern and good humor! Some of the doctors on duty were pretty cool, I loved old doc cotter! He called me a pain in his ass lol lol some may not enjoy that type of humor but it felt good to temporarily feel normal and hear wisecracks while being plugged up like an electric car. my biggest gripe is the food and them not having the syfy channel as professed in their "welcome to the hospital....hope you have good insurance.." patient book. Another gripe was the fluxating a.c. during my stay ive had to ask the nurses to turn the a.c. up in the room because it was so unbearably hot. At times it felt like I was outside! one nurse even walked into the room and was like it feels like a sauna in here and called about the room temperature before i could request it. I told her totally agree with her prognosis as I wrung my shirt out of sweat. I kid you not I've woken up out my sleep in heavy sweats because the temperature crept up to an unbearable temperature in the room and i had to get up to make a cold compress. Another gripe.... The electronic blood pressure machine I'm finding to be inacurrate on several tries which in my opinion leads to possible over medication. Any slight movement, deep breath, or conscious thought will send your reading to a ridiculously high number. Example: I suffer from hypertension; you just don't flip the lights on, announce in a outside voice hey I'm taking your blood pressure, mind you this is 4am after being given a sleep sedative at midnight. BOOM...it shoots up. 195/100 Not only that but while your blood pressure is being taken you are being prepped to have 4 test tubes of blood taken. Then they say get out of bed let me take your weight. My bp went from 169/84 left arm sitting up laying on side, 195/100 right arm laying on back , to 169/73 left arm laying down on side with arm limp in front of me. All of those taken about 1-2 minutes apart. But 5 minutes later when the commotion went away it was taken again 140/90 left arm, laying on side, arm laying directly on hip. Now imagine if the nurse I had wasn't the one working with me for days to know this and medicated me based off the 1st or 2nd reading when all I needed was a moment to relax from all that activity?! OVER MEDICATION!! folks speak up for yourself, ask questions, and document your readings and experiences. Bevause if something happens in their error and you didnt give your family proof, guess what?! 0_o futhermore it's asinine how some of these doctors don't take into account that sudden jarring stress and that commotion elevates your bp, if you dont buy that for a dollar you are crazy ass hell! You can't treat someone with hypertension on textbook rules, textbook rules are just a guideline imo Smh But when you try to explain the reason you think/witnessed your hypothesis to be correct it may fall upon deaf ears depending on who your doctor is because they feel they have the phd so they know your body better than you lol smh some doctors are really gung ho about surgery, bleeding your insurance, and doping you up. Speak up for yourself man, because what ive seen.... smh Doctors arent always right and will google a generic response when they dont know to sound bright or informed. People need to realize its alright to say "i dont know" but im working on a suitable solution or answer based upon x-y-z. Besides these things I enjoyed most of the staff and felt like my medical needs were met by the few that assisted and truly listened to me.
