Dr. Shumer's thoroughness is so important. I had a few little bumps develop on my back, so he biopsied one even though it wasn't cancerous. He just wanted to be sure. And sure enough, it came back benign. However, based upon the pathology report, Dr. Shumer wanted me to get a chest x-ray to rule out an autoimmune disease called sarcoidosis. He said it was unlikely that I had it, but he just wanted to be sure. And sure enough, the x-ray came back highly suspicious for sarcoidosis. I'm still early in the process of determining this and what to do about it, but I never would have known about this were it not for Dr. Shumer. I am eternally grateful to him for everything he does, and highly recommend him.
