We felt cared for and helped in our time of need and that made all the difference. We spent the day at the ER with a terribly painful kidney stone. The staff all moved quickly and with purpose to get my husband out of pain and discomfort as soon as we got there. They checked in on us frequently and gave us updates, medicine, information - as it was needed. They really cared for us and that made such a difference. We didn't expect much from an ER, but we were very happy and thankful we went to this one and had the staff we had. The security team also was incredible. After a difficult day, our truck battery actually died and I ended up panicking because all my husband wanted was to go home. The security team showed right up with solutions, a jumper cable system and lots of information to help me get through it all. They were such a blessing and a godsend. Thank you to Nurse Kris, Dr Kim, and the security team that night. I didn't catch their names but they deserve recognition and a big thank you - for everything

This review does not reflect any service provided by the Emergency Room or inpatient Hospital experience. Instead this review is specifically for the Claudia E Sanders Imaging Center. It's time to begin to get caught up on all the medical procedures that were cancelled during 2020 due to Covid-19. This week I had my annual mammogram that was long overdue. My primary care doctor made the initial contact for scheduling the appointment. I then received a call to set the time and date. I told the scheduler that any day but March 10 was available but that date was reserved for my Covid-19 Vaccine. Based on that information the scheduler recommended having the mammogram prior to that date. So March 9 was the date I booked. Registering on the day of the appointment was a breeze. All aspects of entering and registering followed social distancing. Before even entering the lobby there is a station for temperature check and Covid questions. The mammogram also went very smoothly. I was escorted back to the room, had the mammogram performed, and then showed the way out. Easy as can be. I'm good for another year. Glad to have that appointment completed. All the areas of the hospital that I visited were extremely clean. Every employee followed Covid19 protocol and wore face masks. I would recommend this location for your annual mammogram.

The ER nurses are awful people who act like they don't want to be there and make you feel like you're bothering them, even when you have a real emergency. You sit there for hours without seeing a single person. The doctors are often pretty nice. Nurse gave me potassium with saline. The saline ran out first. Very painful. I screamed in pain for 10 min before I got attention. I mean, loudly! Screw that place.

This review is specifically about my ER experience and has nothing to do with the UofL Physicians across the street (they are incredible). I went to the ER with a high fever, shortness of breath, chest pain, terrible cough, high blood pressure, high heart rate, low oxygen levels, and sweating profusely. I was asked if I was having a panic attack. I clearly wasn't. I was tested for Covid and flu, had a chest xray and EKG and was told everything was normal. I was sent home with the diagnosis of "fever and cough." I saw my primary physician two days later and had multifocal PNEUMONIA! Because the of ER's incompetence, I drowned in my lungs for two more days before I received the proper medical care I desperately needed. It was the most terrified I had been (medically) in my life. I would not recommend this ER to anyone, let alone someone I loved. They're more focused on gossiping at the nurse's station and getting you out of there as soon as possible than doing their jobs probably. So, please, beware.

The worst possible care i have ever received at any hospital. The receptionists in the cardiologist office made inappropriate comments about "choking out" children. I was also made to wait an hour for an appointment that I had scheduled, despite there only being one other patient being taken care of at the time. The bathrooms were borderline unusable as there was bodily fluids along with blood on the toilet seat. Also at the same facility I had told the doctors that i had not eaten all day or drank much water and they proceeded to take a pint of blood from me which caused me to pass out, obviously. After this happened I was quickly shuffled out of the hospital as if i were an inconvenience to the people whose job it was to take care of me. If you have any choice at all, avoid this place of care AT ALL COSTS, the workers do not care and the building itself is poorly taken care of on the maintenance front. I apologize to any unfortunate person who ends up at this facility and they will all be in my prayers.

The morning of April 2, 2023 I was in the UL Health Shelbyville Emergency Room in support of a family member. The department was not busy, there may have been one other patient. My review is a reflection on the staff on duty, not the hospital as a whole. I am a long-time supporter of our hospital. Defensive, condescending attitudes were the order of the day for the staff. I can't include the doctor because he could not be bothered to interact personally. Waiting hours for information that should have been given at the outset, talking at and down to patients, rude phone etiquette, extremely slow response to patient's request. Very disappointing effort from staff that are supposed to be in the people business.

I would give 0 stars if it were possible. I used to go here as my go to ER. Until I got diagnosed with a mental health condition. The ER are disrespectful and lack any compassion. They mock me and disregard my health concerns due to a medical condition I have. Questioning my prescription medical helmet and mocking the diagnosis for said conditio.(PNES) (All while simultaneously treating me as if I have factious disorder or hypochondri neither of which are in the same wheel house as my illnes) This is dangerous as well as insulting as due to this dismissive attitude I have been stepped over as while in pain with no regard to my symptoms and had to seek aid elsewher only to find I had a severe infectio. My hand has been crushed to the point it was sore and swollen for 4 day. I over heard staff joking about this incident later stating that they could have gotten me if they crushed my hand with a wheelchair or their boot. I could go on but you get the ide. they are terrible and I will never be going bac.
