I had a discectomy with Dr McDonnell about six year ago. At the time, my lower back was in such bad pain that often I couldn't even get out of bed in the mornings. After the surgery, the recovery time was about two weeks before I could move on my own - but my lower back improved tremendously. Dr McDonnell is a professional, and is highly recommended.

Doctor McDonnell was a life saver. I left work Saturday, Memorial day weekend bent over 90 degrees and couldn't walk. Ambulance came Sunday to pick me up and took me to the hospital. My old ortho referred me to McDonnell and told me he would be able to help. I got in pretty quick and discovered I needed to have surgery because the herniated disc was crushing my nerve and had severe leg pain and my right leg was unusable. I had surgery June 27th and left the hospital ON MY OWN TWO LEGS THE SAME DAY!! Recovery was a breeze and I was back at work July 27th!! He even took the time on the weekend and called me at 9pm to help me with an insurance and medication problem. I can walk again, I can laugh again, I can have FUN AGAIN. McDonnell truly saved my quality of life and I owe him everything. THANK YOU!!

He took the time to listen to my concerns and explain my condition. However, he was a little pushy about surgery, and that concerned me. My symptoms improved weeks later w/o treatment and I was told by a 2nd opinion that I didn’t need surgery.

Horrible Dr. Told me to have a lumbar fusion. Listened to him. Caused me to have osteomyelitis. Never followed up with me. Ended up going to a neurosurgeon. He said the fusion wasn’t even going to help things and that I needed a laminectomy( a less severe surgery). I would never go back to that practice again!
