I cannot recommend Vanderbilt Medical Center enough. I had a bone marrow aspirate and biopsy today at the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center to rule out multiple myeloma. I, of course went on YouTube to see what to expect. Huge mistake. I confess to being a little anxious about the expected pain I was about to endure. Never happened. I've had more discomfort from skin biopsies.
Krista, the nurse practitioner, and Allison, my nurse were unbelievable. They were friendly, reassuring, and empathetic. They were truly interested in me and my comfort level rose. They explained every step of the procedure and Allison even massaged my back during the procedure which distracted me from what Krista was doing. I kept anticipating pain, and it NEVER happened.
When the procedure was completed, I thanked them profusely for their skill and expertise.
The purpose of this review is 2 fold,
#1. Give these fine caring professionals the credit they are due
and
#2. Go on public record that a bone biopsy does not need to be painful and if that is recommended to you to achieve a diagnosis,
PLEASE DO IT. Knowledge is power.
Definitely worth the 4 hour round trip to go to Vanderbilt.
Keep up the good work!
