My 75 year old wife needs dialysis three times a week.We had been going to West Metro because we were acquainted with it through her rehab at The Imperial. We discovered that Fresenius Medical Care Logan Square was much closer to our house, so we scheduled a dialysis session at Logan Square. We do not drive, so we had a Pace Car scheduled. My wife also has a great deal of pain, standing and walking. She uses a wheel chair, which requires me to set up her wheel chair at the bottom of our seven stairs. I helped her down the stairs and int her wheelchair, then I wheeled her to the corner where Pace meets us. Right around that time, she was informed by cell phone that Fresenius Medical Care Logan Square was closed. My wife cannot get back up our seven steps. She can manage going down the steps, but we have to call the Fire Department to get her up the steps. So the frustrated Pace driver who already got her into the pace car has to leave, and we are totally screwed. We finally found a relative to drive her in his car, which luckily could accommodate a folded wheel chair in his trunk. We then called Metro West and they were happy to take her in for dialysis, and our relative helped us home. Try and imagine that this happened to your disabled 75 year old dialysis patient. You're in the wrong business. Some patients are in fairly good health except for their need for dialysis. We have decided to use West Metro Dialysis. We never ran into a problem there. We can't risk Fresenius Medical Care Logan Square. We can't accept working with a facility that might tell us to 'just go home' which is what we were told by you. 'Going home' or 'come back tomorrow' is not an option for us. Lives depend on this.
