List of The Dermatology Specialists's Reviews
Had a great visit here and will continue coming back!
This review is solely based on the time it took. I had a 10am appointment. I arrived 15 minutes early, as instructed, and I waited 45 minutes in the lobby waiting room before I was even able to go up to the doctor’s waiting area. I understand being behind. But they should have called me and told me they were running behind. I would have rescheduled. When I got to the second waiting area, I waited another 10 minutes before even walking into the patient room to be seen by the dermatologist. The nurse that helped me when I was waiting for Dr. Began was great and very prompt. Just didn’t like that I waited 45 minutes for an appointment for a reoccurring issue without a call to reschedule. I was told the wait would be 10/15 minutes because they were behind. Not 45 minutes to an hour. I was in with the doctor for all of 3 minutes. I am just disappointed that something that should’ve taken 20 minutes tops took me over an hour.
I got to see Dr. Grace during my visit and she was so helpful and attentive to my problems!
My first visit was encouraging. Dr. Began ran several test. In my second appointment I was really disappointed. The results were back in and it took her 7 minutes to tell me ‘there’s nothing I can do for you. ‘Maybe I can recommend you to a hair specialist in Brooklyn‘ and then take out sutures from my head. She should have made that decision day one. Dr. Began could have spent some time to explain why she could not help. Most of all she could have called me to tell me this. I don’t know. Was it the need to bill my insurance? It was Poor customer service
This is the admin address for this practice that is spreading like roaches across NY and beyond. Be very, very wary--they practice untimely billing, make blatant errors with billing that delay processing, and at this point I no longer am presuming good will and that it's disorganization and unprofessionalism going on combined with strategizing a huge profit margin before going public or selling the company, but instead a scheme. There are definite signs of a scheme though I'm sure they will say it's AI optimization scrubbing accounts--just call and talk to their robot scheduling "person" and human-but robotlike call center. Or read their website portal FAQs--all canned responses about why they get to bill you so much! How could that info be generic? This place is running automatically to churn out business. Besides wasting time in waiting rooms due to double booking (I've seen signs for this in the office, they instruct desk staff how to manage it and it's intentional) there are even bigger problems related to profit seeking. This practice appears to be fraudulently billing by billing repeatedly after bills are resolved, and both billing and putting balances into collections. They make no effort to reconcile or even do things right in the first place. The employer I had when I had old insurance that they keep untimely billing said they are engaging in unscrupulous billing practices. So be forewarned, even if this place offers talented drs, an accessible location, and acceptance of lots of insurance you can get caught in billing problems they try to make the patients' burden through cost and stress. Now mind you insurance companies are bad and make mistakes, but Derm Specs are not proactive in minimizing that reality of healthcare and make things the patient's problem. They do NOT care about retaining you or caring for you. Unless you can handle the stress of inaccurate billing, do not go to any of their offices.
I called to request a refill for my medication. The receptionist took all my information and said it would be sent to the pharmacy - but it never was. I called the office again, and the receptionist said she created the refill request, but there was no previous refill request can be found. So I asked how the system works, and why it didn't send out last week - the receptionist said it needed to be sent to the doctor for approval and asked me to call back to check on it. I asked to speak directly with the doctor to understand why it wasn’t processed before when the previous receptionist said it was, but the person said that would require a separate request and would delay my refill even further - which doesn’t make any sense. This system is very frustrating, not patient friendly, and I will be switching dermatologists.
Everything was great!
Friendly staff, super knowledge nurses and doctor. Would recommend!
Love Dr Began! She is so kind and thorough.
My appointment with Grace was lovely, she is very perceptive & shared great insight about my skin & how I can achieve my goals. The appointment was everything I was looking for & more.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
