Every staff member, from the front desk to the therapists, radiates professionalism and kindness. If you need PT that feels like family while delivering real results, this is the place.
Love the group of staff & therapists at the Plaza Hotel location! Have been referred to other Spear locations over the years & been disappointed with little personal attention...but at the Plaza location, it is different. Jenniffer Ramirez is my PT...Her 1st question is always "How are you today? " She & the assistants keep me busy & focused. Jenniffer switches out my home routine. Everyone cares & it is felt!
This review is for their billing and admin departments (which unfortunately is a large part of healthcare services). I was a patient with Spear over a year ago, and they continue to harass me via email and texts for a “bill.” I reconciled this while I was still an active customer, and multiple times I spoke with someone from billing and was told that I in fact did not have an outstanding balance and they would “fix” it. While I was an active patient, I was charged twice for a session when I infact met my insurance out of pocket max and should not have continued to pay. I paid, not knowing, and when I asked for a refund — I was told they would credit my account since sending me a check was too burdensome for the front desk. Fast forward to now, I wish I didn’t believe these promises and has asked for my direct refund via check. This company has engaged in unethical billing practices, attempting to charge me for services that were never provided. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, they continue to pursue payment for treatments I did not receive. I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with this provider.
I had an amazing recovery at Spear with Isabel. I had the same issue, different side of the body, rehabilitated at HSS and it wasn’t even close to the same experience. Isabel is a great physical therapist. She is attentive with lots of insights and was really involved with my medial care from beginning to end. All the staff at the Plaza hotel location were really nice and friendly and it was always a fun experience.
Spear represents everything wrong with modern physical therapy done by unathletic therapists with no lived injury experience. If you are an athlete, Spear is a complete waste of time and will actively hinder your recovery. I went at the start of the year with bad low back pain and hip tightness coming from intense unilateral leg and isometric work I was doing in at the gym. The only feedback I got from the PT was "you're tight" , and was prescribed some basic stretches to do (the usual bs - cat cow, kneeling quad stretch etc.) and to stay out of the gym. On top of that, they just tried to push me to get a PCP referral so they could milk more sessions out of me (I asked how many sessions and they just smirked and said .. "a lot"). If I had followed that advice, I would have suffered for MONTHS - it was HORRIBLE advice coming from folks who've clearly never recovered from an athletic injury. Over the next weekend, I connected with some friends who played sports in college and suffered injuries of their own, and realized what I needed to start doing was (a) rotational hip exercises under load, (b) dynamic core stabilization through rotational movements, and (c) resistance supported hip flexion. Put otherwise, I needed to resume being active and continue to train under load - just different movements. I immediately cancelled all upcoming sessions I had with Spear. Within 3 weeks of drilling those movements, through my own discovery (which was completely contrary to Spear's advice), I'm completely fine and more mobile than ever. If I'd stayed with them, I'd still be immobile, in pain, and doing cat cow (which I incorporate, but only after I learned how to properly round my back). Bottom line - if you're serious about your own training, Spear is a complete waste of time and will actively hold you back. DON'T GO and talk to people with lived experience (some stellar PTs I've had have lived experience and are incredible. Not Spear).
Great location. I highly recommend Spear. My experience has been very good. Working with Hiral Patel has been wonderful. She is an excellent therapist, very professional and knowledgeable. The whole team is very friendly and helpful. I am so glad I have chosen Spear! It’s a unique place!!
My PT was fine, and I did get some recovery help. However, I felt some things were lacking and needed to find something and someone else. The pt themselves attend to you for the first 15 or 20 mins and them their aides assist/"watch" You for the next mins till your last hr. It can be fine, but not when you need a professional to watch and guide you and make sure you're doing it correctly and know what to avoid when doing your exercises at home. One is there to heal and learn the correct ways and patterns of exercises so he/she can do it properly when they're alone.
Working with Jess Zaeri has been LIFE CHANGING. She genuinely cares about my health and well being. She has incredible emotional intelligence, and would check in when I had off days, or when I was sick and missed a session. She worked incredibly hard to work through my back issues, and answered my endless questions with a smile on her face. She is incredible to work with, and anyone who has the pleasure of working with her will understand what I mean. I appreciate that Jess specialized in weight training, and set me up for a lifetime of success in the weight-room. Also big shout-out to the rest of the crew at Spear, Jess's assistants and Spear's front staff handled my million questions incredibly well and I felt like they really enjoyed being there. They made the atmosphere fun and it was something I actually looked forward to. I hope I never need PT again, but if I do, I hope I can do it with Jess and Spear!
@ Spear, The Plaza hotel - Wonderful team! From the front desk to the rest of the staff. Michael was my physical therapist. He's awesome. I initially needed PT for my hip condition/ Pain and my sessions with him helped me become pain free. I learned a lot. I highly recommend this location. I graduated recently and their team celebrated with me to ring the bell which was sweet of them.
The most amazing staff from the front desk with Shakira and the most amazing Physical Therapist Jenniffer Ramirez who is talented beyond belief.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
