List of Spear Physical Therapy's Reviews
Very thankful for the team at Spear! I was in so much pain when I started PT back in January. Jada’s patience and support over the last six months helped me not just recover, but end up stronger than I was before. Jada and the rest of the team, including Josef and Peter, were always kind, patient, and ready to laugh with me when something was unexpectedly hard. I’m thankful for their help, and to be back to myself!
I’ve worked most closely with Josef, Jada, and Essence to recover from my shoulder surgery. I have made a lot of progress and the staff has been attentive in understanding my goals to help me progress. The team keeps it fun and I look forward to my PT sessions.
Really enjoy my time at the downtown Brooklyn Spear location. The PTs and support staff are incredibly knowledgeable, attentive and kind. I’ve been coming here to rehab from a surgery and thanks to Jada, and the rest of the team, I actually look forward to my weekly sessions.
I’ve been working with Rachita & Essence through multiple injuries as a marathon runner and they’ve been incredibly informative and helpful. I’ve been running pain free largely due to the team here— everyone is very friendly and makes physical therapy fun.
My experience with the therapists is good, but the front desk staff are quite unhelpful. They create confusion rather than providing clear information. I would honestly prefer dealing with a machine—it would at least respond consistently. It’s also baffling that a physical therapy facility doesn’t account for the fact that some patients may be impaired and unable to type. This lack of consideration shows a failure in vision and patient care.
My first session was good and the PT I saw was attentive and qualified. However for later sessions, she was double booked with another client and would pass me off with the assistant who was very unqualified and inattentive. The assistant would go away and forget, and I’d have to proactively find her and ask for the next exercise. She also didn’t monitor anything and occasionally the PT had to call across the room to remind her. She also gave me incorrect equipment, a band that broke and then another that was too tight. Definitely not worth the time or money.
Very professional.
I called a week in advance to schedule an appointment and provided my insurance details. On the day of the appointment, I arrived 15 minutes early to ensure all my forms were completed. However, I was informed that my copay could be up to $200+, even though I knew it should only be $15. It turned out that they hadn't contacted my insurance for verification, despite my request to have this confirmed before the appointment. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with my insurance to confirm my coverage on their behalf. By the time this was resolved, they told me it was 20 minutes past my appointment time, and I wouldn’t be receiving any treatment that day. This was after commuting for an hour to get there. The customer service was terrible, and the physical therapist showed no concern. Avoid this place.
After my previous physical therapist closed, I tried out Spear for a recent injury and was incredibly disappointed. First thing you notice is that the room is overcrowded and loud. During my first session, after my PT quickly assessed me, she started me on some exercises. She would ask me to do x-amount of reps, then walk away, turning her back to me to work on a computer. I don't need to be babysat, but I would expect the PT to at least monitor the first few reps of my very first session to make sure I am doing the exercises properly. I wasn't being watched at all. I scheduled another session, hoping for it to be better, but sadly it was worse. My PT was working with myself and another patient at the same time. Again, she would ask me to do an exercise, then walk to the other side of the room to work with the other patient, not monitoring anything I was doing. After about 10 minutes, a new PT showed, not acknowledging where my PT went or if/when she was coming back, and continued to give me exercises to do then walk away. Whenever I finished an exercise, I would have to awkwardly sit there while searching the room to see where she went. I never saw my original PT again for the remainder of the session. Additionally, I never once saw the beds being wiped down between patients. The entire practice seems unsanitary and unsafe. This is the sort of practice where you will actually injure yourself more. The only reason why I gave 2 stars is because everyone there is at least kind. I am grateful to have had a good physical therapist before this so I know what good care looks like - this certainly isn't it. Do yourself a favor and seek treatment elsewhere.
This is the best therapy place I have been to over the years. They have real professionals who adequately assess your needs, know exactly the type of treatment needed and work as a team when you are there i.e., no downtime during your session. Don, who is the director has just the right energy and guides every step of the session, correcting if necessary. Josef, Nicole are genuinely caring. The place is small but efficiency is at the top. I liked the vibe, excellent work of the appointment coordinators and ease to schedule availability permitting. Oh, text reminder will date and time never failed.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
